Mary Cooper, writer
Mary originally trained as a newspaper journalist. Now she writes for stage, radio and screen, as well as writing poetry and narrative text.
Her work ranges from historical dramas for BBC Radio Four, and poetry to celebrate the centenary of a tramway, to a book of stories based on the contemporary lives of families on an estate in West Yorkshire.
Whatever the style and form of my work, I aim for authenticity, emotional truthfulness, strong characterisation and engaging stories. In all my work, I strive to say less and mean more; to use powerful language with economy and precision.
